Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)

Every day, our bodies require energy to carry out daily activities and for growth, healing and repair. This energy is drawn from the oxygen we breathe and the food that we eat. Unfortunately, our increasingly intense modern lifestyles do not provide a nourishing environment for our bodies to thrive.

In this stressful state, our bodies are more prone to inflammation, and cannot focus on growth, healing, and optimal functioning. Thus, over time, chronic diseases begin to affect our cells and tissues.

HBOT supercharges recovery and optimises your vitality. It involves breathing concentrated oxygen in a pressurised chamber, enabling oxygen to reach and be utilised in areas of the body where circulation was previously diminished.

The benefits include:

Physical and mental well being

Deeply breathing oxygen has a calming effect on the body which helps to lower your blood pressure, reduce stress and encourage mental clarity. This can reduce anxiety, insomnia and brain fog, improving your strength, mood and quality of life.

Sports endurance and recovery

HBOT increases the oxygen supply to damaged tissues, reducing inflammation and speeding up the repair of muscle tissue. This significantly shortens the recovery time after intense workouts or competitions and minimises the risk of long-term complications. This allows athletes to train more frequently and at higher intensities without the usual delays caused by soreness and fatigue.

Regular HBOT sessions enhance oxygen utilisation and improve cardiovascular efficiency, leading to increased stamina and overall athletic performance. â€‹

Anti inflammatory and immune-boosting

The extra oxygen protects the body through a strong anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant effect, significantly reducing joint and nerve pain. When there is restricted blood flow to an area through surgery, illness or injury then the red blood cells block the blood vessel and are unable to transfer oxygen to the cells on the other side of the restriction. This can lead to swelling and the break down of tissue cells and organs, causing problem wounds and long term tissue damage.

HBOT causes the oxygen to diffuse into the blood plasma which can travel past the restriction, diffusing many times further into the tissue. The tissue, now rich with oxygen encourages the formation of new blood vessels, restoring form and function.

Oxygen is essential for the proper functioning of the immune system. HBOT has been found to boost the immune system by increasing the availability of stem cells and immune cells, enhancing the body’s ability to fight off infections and illnesses.

Biohacking and healthy ageing

HBOT helps combat the ageing process by elevating stem cell production, regenerating new brain, bone, skin and heart tissue and producing new blood vessels.

As we age, collagen production decreases, contributing to wrinkles and sagging skin.

Hyperpigmentation becomes more apparent, caused by prolonged exposure to UV rays, leading to dark spots and uneven skin tone. HBOT stimulates collagen production and reduces oxidative stress that can age the skin, promoting younger, firmer and healthier looking skin.

Acute and Chronic conditions

The influx of concentrated oxygen helps to provide the ‘critical extra energy’ needed for both tissue repair and function, whilst also reducing joint and nerve pain.

HBOT helps to create new blood vessels which is critical for recovery from diseases, particularly in those that effect the small blood vessels, such as;

  • Chronic and non-healing wounds

  • Brain injuries

  • Heart attacks

  • Diabetes

  • The ageing process â€‹

HBOT reduces inflammation, improves detoxification, destroys anaerobic bacteria and improves the body’s ability to heal itself.

HBOT has also shown promise in improving cognitive function and brain health. It may stimulate neurological function by promoting neuroplasticity (reconnection of structures and functions, new pathways), and aid in recovery from traumatic brain injuries, strokes, and neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.

As a result, HBOT has been used as a supplemental therapy for a wide range of chronic illnesses, including autoimmune disorders, Lyme disease, multiple sclerosis, chronic fatigue syndrome, and more.

By improving oxygen delivery to tissues and reducing inflammation, HBOT may help alleviate symptoms and improve quality of life for individuals living with chronic conditions such as Crohn’s and Endometriosis.

HBOT may also help alleviate symptoms of long COVID such as fatigue, weakness, chest pain and shortness of breath, whilst simultaneously improving brain function, sleep quality and quality of life.
